Materials and construction

A material family identifies what the source describes. It does not establish an alloy grade or qualify an alternative manufacturing process.

917-001 restoration

Body panels

Glass-fibre / polyester laminate · Laminate formed using reconstructed moulds

Porsche describes scanning, surface reconstruction and machined moulds. This is not a claim that the body was 3D printed.

What remains unknown

The research does not establish a complete dimensioned engine envelope, internal machining drawings or a material certificate for each original part. Proposed titanium replacements and modernised 917 crankcases remain engineering studies. No simulated output, target power or proposed mass saving is presented here as a tested engine result.

For the existing catalogue, see 993 parts and published weights andthe 993 Turbo engine specification.
