Magnesium Crankcase, early 911 (F and G Series, 1968–1976)
Porsche Classic reissued the magnesium crankcase in 2023 for 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 and 2.7 litre engines — ending decades of welding cracks or hunting secondhand cases.

| Notes | Porsche moved from aluminium to magnesium in 1968 for the weight, then away again — magnesium cases crack and corrode, and the 3.0 SC returned to aluminium. Reissuing the original material is a restoration-authenticity decision, not an engineering improvement. |
