How this place is run
The catalog only records what a manufacturer or the factory has published. The forum is the opposite: it is for the part that is not written down anywhere — what actually fits, what failed at 40,000 km, which shop got it right. Both are useful, and keeping them separate is what stops one contaminating the other.
Four rules
- Say which car. Generation, year, engine. Half the wrong answers on every Porsche forum come from someone answering about a different car.
- Separate what you measured from what you were told. Both are worth posting. Confusing them is how myths get a second life.
- No trade advertising outside Wanted and for sale. If you sell the part, say so in the post. Nobody minds a vendor who declares themselves.
- Correct the catalog here. If a reference, a weight or a fitment on this site is wrong, post it in About this site with the source. It gets fixed and credited.
Moderation
You may delete your own post for fifteen minutes. After that it stays, because a thread where half the replies answer posts that have vanished is worthless. Moderators can remove posts and lock threads; a removed post leaves its marker so the numbering stays honest.
What we store
A handle, an email address, a hashed password, and what you post. The email is used for nothing yet — there is no mailing list and no password reset by email, so pick a password you can keep. No third-party analytics, no advertising trackers.
